Self Direction Conference
Promote Flexibility, Control and Personalized Services for Innovations Waiver Recipients
The conference will convene families and individuals who are receiving the Medicaid Innovations Waiver and are participating in (or interested in exploring) the self-direction model of service delivery. These advocates will be joined by those working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in supportive roles and other allies.
The conference will be keynoted by family member and distinguished professor of health law and policy Alison Barkoff. Ms. Barkoff recently led the Administration for Community Living, US Department of Health and Human Services.
Participants will learn how to best advocate for policies that support self direction, promote equitable access to services, facilitate sustainability, and protect the rights of individuals to live independently and with dignity. It is hoped that participants will also recognize the power of networking and joining this Coalition.
